flexiblevolunteeropportunities

Since June 2011 we are proud to have introduced our volunteer program to allow people to use their time and effort and not simply finances to aid and support.

Nobody can put into words the sheer joy and pride one can experience being a volunteer in the field and making real changes to real lives. Our "Help and Holiday" programme has enabled over 100 volunteers get to travel to a variety of locations, learn new cultures and offer the gift of their skills and time.

volunteervacations

Peru

We are currently working in this area of South America with a plan to invest in the region especially to address poverty within indigenous tribes as well as deprived inner city areas. Our scope includes small mini grants as well as larger business, education and community project grants.

Sierra Leone

In a country as poor as Sierra Leone we have an urgent need to develop new systems to for providing basic water and medical care to smaller villages. Education and training projects are also being funded and require volunteers urgently.

India

India´s growing middle class has simply increased the gap between the rich and the poor. If organsations such as LFO do not seek to address equality of education and health in the region, a huge proportion of Indians will never be able to bridge this gap. We need volunteers principally with experience in these fields.

volunteerstory

Laura Jackson in Ghana 2010

Laura was born in Jackson, USA and had enjoyed a happy and priveliged upbringing. She had always had a passion for Africa and dreamed of spending her time helping there. After contacting us she had the chance to work alongside our African Project manager Delia Ukellene in asscociation with ISSRU. A new well was placed in Bunbonayaki to provide a clean water supply to the people.

Laura helped to install the pump, taught the local people to maintain cleanliness of the water as well as identifying ways to reduce disease. Oral Rehydration Solution, how to take proper care of the pump, how to keep the water clean, as well as explaing how to minimise disease transmission.

Laura told us "Thanks to kind donations of the people and the co-ordination of LFO I managed to spend the most fulflilling and unforgettable year of my life. I would recommend volunteering to everyone."
